*CLOSED* Giveaway: Hand-made Wool Socks from Shady Side Farm

ShadySideFarm Today’s giveaway is open to anyone with a US or Canada mailing address.

I don’t know about you, but I love quality, home-made items.   Shady Side Farm is an actual place–a place of hard work, creative energy, and a connection to the land. It’s the place where Lona and her husband have chosen to raise their children. You can find out more about life on a farm if you visit their blog, Farming in the Shade.

Lona has donated a pair of hand-made wool socks from their Etsy store, ShadySideFarm.   The winner gets to choose from the socks in their store. These socks are created from their own sheep’s wool. Lona says, “We raise sheep, shear them once a year, and send the raw wool off to be cleaned, carded and spun into yarn. We dye the yarn and make socks one at a time on an antique circular sock machine. In the course of our days, we raise sheep and create practical and beautiful items, including things crafted from our wool.”

To be entered in this giveaway, leave a comment at this post no later than 11:59 p.m. EDT, Friday, February 27, 2009.  (It would be nice if you stated your favorite product from ShadySideFarm.)  The winner will be chosen using random.org.

If you really want to win this subscription, you can earn up to six additional entries by completing the following tasks. (Please leave a separate comment for each task.)

  1. Sign up for our newsletter. The sign up box is located at the top of our sidebar. If you are already a subscriber, leave a comment letting us know that.

    This is great. Thanks for letting us know about the giveaway and the blog to check out. I love their Grape Escape wool socks. Purple is one of my favorite oclors, although the “pert near” john deere ones are great, too, since my DH has a John Deere tractor for our small ranch.

    super cool place. we went to the shearing in dec with our kids and are going again this sat. the sock making machine is sweet and i would love a pair of any of the socks. the girls who make the goods were so nice and told us how each item was made. great experience. can’t wait :)
