Free Online Favicon Generator
I finally added a favicon for Berries and Cream Blog Design. It was kind of the case of the doctor whose family is always sick – I’ve been so busy on client projects that I never took the time to create a favicon for our site.
I am often asked about our favicon option in our Custom Blog Design Packages and Custom Blog Design A La Cart menu. Common questions are
- what is a favicon? (It’s the image to the left of your URL in your browser’s address bar or in your Favorites/Bookmarks folder.)
- do I need a favicon? (I highly recommend having a favicon because it is another way to brand your site and it also helps your site stand out in that Bookmark or Favorites folder.)
- how do you create a favicon?
That last question is the one this post is addressing.
Steps to Create a Favicon
- Choose or create an image. Simple images work best. Address bar favicons are only 16 pixels by 16 pixels, which is quite tiny. I recommend creating your favicon at 32×32 since that size is sometimes used and can be scaled down to the 16×16 size.
- Go to Dynamic Drive’s Favicon Generator and click Browse to find your image on your computer.
- After you’ve found and selected your image, click on Create Icon.
- If you like what you see, click on the download link.
- If you don’t like what you see, repeat steps 1-3 until you do.
If you can’t create a favicon that you like, you can order a custom favicon from us for only $15.
